Washington Post Tebow Article

Thanks to Alan this morning, an article from the Washington Post was brought to my attention.  Tim Tebow, a man who I greatly respect as an athlete and as a Christian, will evidently have an ad during the Super Bowl promoting a pro-life position on abortion.  I’ll just get it out there, I’m 100% on board with Tebow and Mrs. Jenkins who wrote the article.  It should be noted, however that the ad never says anything about abortion, Christianity, or anything that is blatantly evangelical according to Jenkins.  Tebow and his mother are promoting a right to life in a non-threatening way.  Reading the comments on this article, there seems to be a trend of pro-choicers who’ve gotten their pants all in a ruffle about CBS airing this ad over a Gay Dating ad.  Here are some of my thoughts (more like ranting) on the whole issue (not that it really matters anyway):

1. CBS is a private organization and can air whatever the heck they want.  Get over it.
2. I’ve seen some people complaining in the comments section that the “conservatives” get their spot on the Super Bowl, why can’t the “liberals” get their spot?  Answer: the “liberals” already have their spot, its called the “rest of the Super Bowl”.
3. Also saw some arguing about the predicament Tebow’s mom was in in the Philipines.  Regardless of the fact that abortion was illegal at the time there, she kept the baby.  Pro-life.  End of story.
4.  Concerning those who argue that its not right for CBS to air something that may have a religious agenda behind it.  YOU DON’T HAVE TO AGREE WITH THEM!!!!  I’m sorry that for a brief 30 second break in the space-time continuum there is a presentation of logical thought based on absolutes and reason in relation to the precious lives of unborn children who often don’t have a say in whether they live or die.  (yes, they are alive, from conception).
5. Concerning those angry with “Bible-thumping” anti-abortion radicals.  That’s exactly what they are, radicals.  Sadly, Christians are stereotyped by those who act outside of what Christ would have them do.
6. Concerning those who criticized Jenkins’ common-sense writing style: are you made someone stepped on your wittle toes and blew your spot up with a logical atom bomb?
7.  Also read something about Tebow using his status as a well renown football player to promote a socio-cultural, religious agenda.  Can’t say that I wouldn’t do the same.  He believe what he believes and is passionate about it.  Deal with it.  We need more men like this who step up and go against the accepted moral grain.

Overall, I’m am sitting on the edge of my seat with anticipation to see the ad.  Jenkins’ article was as unbiased as it could possibly be, since she is pro-choice, defending Tebow, a pro-lifer.

Colossians 2:6-15

This morning I was encouraged by a passage of Scripture that has evaded my attention for a long time.  I can’t remember the last time I read through Colossians, but I’m thankful for this encouragement from this morning.  Here it is:
“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built [...]

End of Year Recap

Starting with the beginning of this year, I thought everything was going against me. After trying to find a movie theatre in Garner that evidently no one could tell me the location of, I got pulled for going 65 in a 45. Wouldn’t you know it, my tags were out of date too. After going [...]

Influencial Men In My Life: A Time for Reflection

In conversation last night, the topic of how to be a man (spiritually) came up with Jeremiah and I.  We were talking about the different influences our fathers had on our lives, and I can say that my home life situation was much better than Jeremiah’s.  Even so, my dad is not a Christian.  Yes, [...]

I Am Writing To You, Young Men

Lately I’ve started reading through the 3 books of John.  This morning I’ve been reflecting on chapter 2:7-14.  This scripture goes like this:
7Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard. 8At the same time, it [...]

This Week’s Bible Study

This week at Bible Study we will be studying Romans 1:18-32.  The whole book of Romans is thick.  Extremely thick. Not in the physical sense, but in it’s content.  This week we’ll talk about how we have no excuse to not recognize God as creator.  In this passage Paul shows that since the creation of [...]

South Africa Day 6

This morning was a very productive one up until about 11AM.  We finally go the roll up door bolted in.  We ended up using some of that threaded rod we used for the fence to clamp the rails to the wall.  We drilled straight through the wall and bolted that thing down.  Then once the [...]
